traffic || jammed captures a fleeting moment of intensity as mockART take the stage at the Rush Hour Kulturfestival, presented by Heussenstamm Stiftung. Recorded on September 8, 2024 at Atelierhaus Orber Straße in Frankfurt, the performance unfolded in close contact with an attentive and responsive audience.

The music was written exclusively for this evening. Each piece reflects a different presence in the urban flow, the figures who shape, slow down, and define the daily rush hours of our cities. Recorded live by Jörg See and later carefully mixed and mastered by rabirius, the album retains the energy and immediacy of the performance while standing firmly on its own as a cohesive album.

That night, mockART were Christoph Dorner, Ümit Kaya, and rabirius.
La Bête Noire and Kör Adamın Gazeli appear as CD bonus tracks, performed as encores during the concert and previously released digitally as the single La Bête Noire (Alive).

mockART thrives on collaboration. After inviting other artists to remix our album views || interrupted, we were fascinated by how radically different the results sounded on views || remixed – each remix standing confidently as a track in its own right.

That experience sparked a new idea: what if several artists reworked the same track? We chose La Bête Noire – a piece that has, over time, become something of a mockART classic – and handed it over to a group of diverse collaborators. Once again, the transformations surprised and inspired us.

The remixes don’t just reinterpret the original – they expand it, unfolding a kind of narrative. As the track evolved in the hands of others, it began to tell the story of the black beast in many voices and moods. Each version is a chapter in that unfolding tale.

The album is framed by our original version and a live recording captured during our performance at the Rush Hour Kulturfestival, curated by the Heussenstamm Stiftung in 2024.

This is La Bête Noire—remixed, reimagined, retold.

He Staggered Across The Floor came about as an experiment. Christoph and rabirius were experimenting with flute tunes that they looped through various effects. The resulting sounds where recorded and fed through the loop. So expect something noisy and minimalistic.

The CD version of the album comes with an exclusive cover by renown artist Sonja Ackermann. She painted, sprayed and glued to create a variety of artworks so every CD cover is unique. You can see a selection of her works here:

After completing views | interrupted Christoph Dorner and rabirius thought about what might have happened if they had involved further artists in the project. While discussing this, the idea to release a remix album was born.

The band is really ecstatic about the remixes. They think that Whispered, Medicine Lake, Urhixidur and Morteza Jahangiri all gave their best to create a new track in its own right.

The album is more than mockART expected. To them, the album surpassed a remix album and became a new work in its own right. It further shows what can be accomplished when different musicians work together and try to create something entirely new.

It features the singles Parklife, The Takeover and (Trapped) Between Towers.

views | interrupted was composed as a soundtrack for the exhibition of the same name by Sonja Ackermann, Christian Rocas and mockART’s rabirius. For the exhibition, each artist created six works with the same name. mockART decided to extend the concept and took the themes and titles of the six images and converted them into music. The album was premiered at the exhibition, but as it also works as a separate entity, we decided to release it as a CD as well.

The music was composed and recorded by Christoph Dorner and rabirius. It was mixed and mastered by rabirius as well, who also created the artwork for the CD. The artwork features some of the pictures by all three artists taken from the art show.

Men Who Lost Their Heads is the first album that we released as a duo. Created under lockdown conditions we made consistent and pandemic-related use of the digital possibilities of contactless music-making – together and yet separately, social but with distancing, virus-proof and yet highly infectious.

The idea was to create an album about conspiracy theories and paranoia that spread with the Covid pandemic.

Lizard People, Betörve, Samesjwaering Onger Idiote and A Stronger Climate were also released in advance as singles. The guest vocalists include Léda Szemerédi, Mark Daelmans-Sikkel, Bernd Geiling, Thanatoloop and Ümit Kaya. Special thanks go to Levente Dudás for recording some of the vocals at his N/O/E/W/A Creative Music Studio.

Sonja Ackermann created the additional artwork for the limited CD edition.

mockART started working on the album in 2009. However, when rabirius moved to Frankfurt he concentrated more on his photographic work and resumed working on the project again in 2018 and finally completed the album a year later.

The idea behind the project was to work with vocal samples sent by other musicians and build the tracks from the samples. The contributing artists were Helando, Sr. Gummishoe, Sergei Khukhrov, Lüder Lindau, Trini, Christian Trützler, Serei Jack and Zan Hoffman.

mockART recorded Living with Human Machines after a 9 year break from recording. The tracks were mainly created from sampled noises to create a sound that resembles machines that work through their routines.

Originally, ION was part of a shared album: In 2008 I was asked by Erik Ochránek of the Slovak noise project Drén if I wanted to record a split album with them. I agreed, and the album ION / Time Demon’s Claws was published as a CD by Uz Bolo Dost! Productions the same year.

ION focuses on the noise side of mockART. The sound is more aggressive and distorted, though little melodies where hidden here and there.

In 2018 the mockART remastered their part of the album and published it separately.

mockART started to work on their first album in 2006 and it was released in 2007. The recording process was an experiment with limited resources that lead to some creative ideas how to create sounds and sample them. A lot of instrument parts and vocals where recorded through the microphone build in the computer. For this recording mockART was rabirius with Bernd Geiling, Sr. Gummishoe, Helano, Trini and Töffchen.

The untitled one minute tracks were taken from mockART’s first release 15 Partes del Mundo. The record was released as a limited edition CD.

In 2018 the album was remastered and republished.
